Our Story
Funidata's roots go back as far as 2008, when a solution to a problem that had been known for some time was sought through the Rocket project of the Ministry of Education and Culture. Information systems in the study administration suffered from outdated technology and the information society around them put pressure for change. In 2012, the universities launched the Modernization of Information Systems for Study Administration project. From the very beginning of the project, it was clear that the project would be transferred to a company format in order to respond flexibly, quickly and cost-effectively to the development needs of the common services.
And so in 2016 Funidata was set up to produce, maintain and develop a system that supports studying, teaching and study administration. Our customers are also our owners. Since 2016, the owner universities have been Aalto University and the Universities of Helsinki, Jyväskylä and Tampere. Later, Lappeenranta-Lahti University of Technology LUT, Hanken Svenska handelshögskolan and Arcada, the first university of applied sciences, have also joined. Most recently, Högskolan på Åland has joined.
The customer-oriented business model is part of our strategy and our cooperation is extensive and deep. We want to ensure that our customers are consulted from the perspectives of students, teachers and administrative staff alike.
